Olympique Marseille have confirmed the signing of England winger Jonathan Rowe from Norwich on loan.
The attacker has signed for the French club on loan with an option to buy for £17m. Of which £3m is in bonuses.
Marseille had previously rejected a bid for the England Under-21 international but he is now set to link up with new OM manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Canaries boss Joannes Hoff Thorup says Rowe refused to play for them in their 2-0 opening-season defeat at Oxford amid interest from Ligue 1 clubs
He was training with the club’s Under-21s. Promotion Ufabet and missed Norwich’s Carabao Cup win over Stevenage and the 2-2 draw at Blackburn in the Championship.
The left winger had been a key target as the club look to improve their attacking rotation. And provide Luis Henrique (22) with some needed competition on the left of the attack. Rowe had a breakout season last year for his formative club where he made 32 appearances. Scoring 12 and assisting twice as Norwich narrowly missed out on a return to the Premier League.
It’s been an active summer for Marseille as they’ve looked to completely reshape their squad. And this has seen the French side rely heavily on the English market. Rowe joins Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (29), Mason Greenwood (22), and Ismaël Koné (22) in arriving from a Premier League or Championship team.
